The following update has been received by the Essex Police Watch Co-ordinator...
Dear All,
We've had some reports of individuals knocking on doors, claiming to be
collecting for "Children in Need" without being able to produce
relevant sponsorship paperwork.
These reports have come from outside of our
area, but since Children in Need is coming up, can I please ask you advise your
neighbours / members to ensure that if they are approached for sponsorship for
this or any other charity, the individual does in fact hold the relevant
paperwork.
It would be a pity if money given charitably for a good cause, was being
mis-directed in this way.
There have been a couple of incidents of diesel theft from vehicles, as well as
more theft from oil tanks. In light of this, we'd advise people to ensure
they have lockable fuel caps fitted to both cars and oil tanks.
Many thanks,
Lindsay Baillie
Watch Administrator
