This is a message from Neighbourhood watch. Although it refers to Christmas, it is valid all year round.
If you are away from home this Christmas, we would like to offer you the following advice to help to ensure that you find your house just as you left it.
* Leave a light or lamp on a timer switch in a living area (not just the hall) to come on in the evening.
* Leave your curtains open.
* Leave a radio on somewhere in the house.
* Ensure you have cancelled your milk and papers.
* Ask your neighbours to move your post if it is visible through your letterbox or door.
* Check that garages, sheds and other outhouses are adequately locked up and put keys out of view, even inside your house.
* If you are leaving a car behind, reverse it up to your garage so that the garage door cannot be opened.
Merry Christmas!

A message from Lindsay Baillie, Essex Police...
Hi,
Just to let you know that there has been a shed break in in Ashdon at Steventon End on Tuesday night / Wednesday morning. Tools were stolen and appears to have been a fairly professional job. You might like to warn your neighbours to check their shed security and if possible, think about installing outside security lights.
Regards,
Lindsay
